A Steady Comeback The Princess of Wales is continuing her own measured re-emergence to official duties after her cancer diagnosis and chemotherapy, in November making her initial major address in two years, in which she discussed recognising the "selfless, commonly overlooked efforts of carers". Music and Opportunity Attendees entering the Abbey can listen to talented youth performers aided by the charitable trust Future Talent, established in part by the Duchess of Kent to broaden opportunities for music lessons. Trumpeter Carys Wood, 18, who is a trumpet player and is from Pembrokeshire, has been helped by the trust, with awards contributing to equipment, teaching, and travel fees - and she said it was "awesome" to be performing at the evening's event. "Pursuing music is often costly," she stated. She is now studying at the renowned conservatoire, and added that "all people deserve the chance" to cultivate their performance abilities. A Sisterly Duo Eliza, Carys's sister who is 11, who performs on the brass instrument, will be present at the Abbey. "I never thought I'd be able to play there in front of so many notable figures," she said. Within the audience will be people from various age groups. That will encompass Saphia Turner, aged nine, honouree of a prize for youthful altruism, who sells artwork and carries out sponsored challenges to generate funds for local food charities. Seasonal Ambiance and Entertainment The Abbey has been festooned with custom-created holiday decorations, with well-known chef Mary Berry and flower expert Simon Lycett assisting in their creation. Among the musical performers will be recording artist Katie Melua, the Abbey's own choir and a nautical singing ensemble, the group Fisherman's Friends, who said the invitation to sing was "a dream come true."
